NJ Supreme Court's Succession Rule Will Likely Get Law Firms Talking
New Jersey Office Managing Partner Paul Marino was recently featured in Law.com, where he discussed the New Jersey Supreme Court’s new rule requiring attorneys to implement formal succession plans. Marino described the measure as “a thoughtful step” toward strengthening the profession’s commitment to client continuity and noted that it underscores the importance of preparedness across firms of all sizes.
“I wouldn’t expect a wave of mergers solely because of this initiative, but it may spark some thoughtful conversations among solo and small-firm attorneys. For some, joining a larger platform that already has a succession plan in place could provide peace of mind and stability. Others may look to form informal alliances with peers to meet this responsibility,” commented Marino.
