Chief Justice Chase Rogers (Ret.) Joins with Judge Robert Holzberg (Ret.) to Form Connecticut Lawyers for Immigration Justice Campaign
Day Pitney partner Chase Rogers, former Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court, was featured in an article, "Retired Judges Establish Fund To Provide Lawyers For Immigrant Families," published by the Hartford Courant. As noted in the article, Robert Holzberg, a retired Connecticut Superior Court judge who is now a partner at Pullman & Comley LLC, teamed up with Rogers to create the Connecticut Lawyers for Immigration Justice campaign, which will raise money for the state's three legal aid organizations so they can continue representing immigrant families in court.
Rogers told the Hartford Courant, "One of the things I'd seen in my prior role was that people do better when they have a lawyer." she said. "The system is more fair. For me, and I think for all of us, this is about fairness and due process. It's not an easy system to navigate and to have an attorney is hugely beneficial."
According to the article, Holzberg and Rogers reached out to members of the Connecticut Bar Association and received support from many of the organization's past and current presidents. Funds raised through the campaign will be distributed to the three legal aid organizations: Connecticut Legal Services, New Haven Legal Assistance Association, and Greater Hartford Legal Aid.
