Why Businesses Must Lead on Sustainability

Elizabeth Barton was quoted in an article, "Why Businesses Must Lead on Sustainability," published by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, Inc. The article discusses remarks that were made during the CBIA's Connecticut Sustainability Conference at the Pratt & Whitney Hangar Museum in East Hartford on November 17. Barton, who moderated a discussion on water, pointed out that everyone—business, industry, municipalities and individuals—is responsible for being stewards of our water systems. "Water is an example of a resource where everybody is a stakeholder," Barton said. In addition to water, speakers at the conference discussed waste and packaging and energy with an eye toward sustainability. Barton is a member of the CBIA Energy and Environment Council and served on the State of Connecticut Water Planning Council's Steering Committee on State Water Planning.
