Environmental Law
Overview
For nearly six decades, Day Pitney’s environmental practice has been a cornerstone practice of the Firm, offering comprehensive legal counsel across the spectrum of environmental regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters.
We routinely appear before state and federal courts as well as environmental regulatory agencies including the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Army Corps of Engineers, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP), and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC). We have long history providing counsel on regulatory enforcement actions as well as counselling on transactional and site remediation matters. In addition to regulatory and transactional counselling, we represent clients in complex environmental disputes (including Superfund) involving groundwater and soil contamination, cost recovery and contribution, strict liability statutes, compliance with rehabilitation plans, and contractual provisions addressing environmental inspection rights, remediation obligations, and other environmental matters.
Our clients include some of the largest real estate owners and REITs as well as lenders, manufacturers, heavy industry, energy producers, and other entities that face environmental challenges. We offer well-honed environmental transactional and litigation skills, with a practiced sensitivity to our clients' business needs and strategic goals. We have the experience to effectively counsel and represent our clients in all types of matters, no matter how complex the environmental issues or obstacles encountered.
With a commitment to delivering practical and tailored solutions, our attorneys leverage decades of experience and a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to help clients manage risks, meet regulatory requirements, and overcome complex environmental challenges.
