Elizabeth Sher Appointed to the Lawyers Advisory Committee of the Third Circuit Judicial Council

Partner and General Counsel Elizabeth Sher has been appointed to the Lawyers Advisory Committee of the Judicial Council of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

As a member of the Committee, Sher will contribute to key initiatives, including liaising between the bench, bar, and public, discussing improvements to the administration of justice, making recommendations on local rules and procedures, and undertaking projects at the Court's request. She will serve for a three-year term on the LAC, which serves as a vital bridge between the judiciary and the legal community within the circuit, which hears appeals from federal trial courts in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Composed of appointed attorneys, the committee provides guidance on court operations, rules, procedures, and the practice of law. Its mission is to facilitate open communication between the Bench and the Bar, supporting the Court in administering justice in a fair, impartial, effective, and efficient manner.

Sher is a seasoned trial and appellate lawyer who has represented many long-standing Day Pitney clients in complex commercial litigation across the United States.  Her cases have included contract litigation, professional liability disputes, directors and officers liability defense, and consumer class action defense. Since May 2018, she has served as the firm's General Counsel, advising on conflicts and ethics issues, risk management and compliance, loss prevention, and other legal matters.
