Conflicts & Ethics Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Conflicts & Ethics Manager to join our New Business Intake (NBI) and Conflicts team as part of the General Counsel's Office. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the firm's compliance with the Rules of Professional Responsibility and maintaining high ethical standards across all firm engagements. Your expertise will support the review of new business intake, lateral hires, and other potential conflict matters to protect the firm's legal and ethical standing. This position will report to the firm's Conflicts Counsel and General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conflict Identification & Resolution: Conduct thorough reviews of conflict reports, engagement terms, and client matter data to identify any business or ethical conflicts of interest. Consult with the matter responsible attorney and other firm attorneys to obtain clarification and resolution to conflicts.
- Advisory Role: Provide clear and actionable advice to attorneys and staff on conflict resolution strategies, firm policies, and the rules of professional conduct.
- Document Preparation and Review: Draft, review, and edit conflict waiver letters, engagement letters, and other legal documentation to ensure compliance with ethical standards and firm policies.
- Research & Database Management: Utilize internal and external databases to conduct research on client and matter histories, corporate relationships, and potential conflicts. Maintain accurate and detailed records of conflict checks and resolutions in automated workflow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, staff, NBI and Conflicts team, General Counsel, Conflicts Ethics Loss Prevention Committee (CELPC) and firm leadership to address conflict-related issues. Assist in educating attorneys and staff on conflict-checking processes and firm protocols.
- Risk Management: Support the firm's risk management initiatives by staying up to date on professional conduct rules and by participating in ongoing firm training related to ethics and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school is required.
- Bar admission in good standing in a state where Day Pitney operates an office.
- 2-5 years of legal experience in conflicts management, risk assessment, or compliance.
- Strong knowledge of conflict of interest rules and legal ethics, with prior experience working with conflict-checking systems (e.g., Intapp, iManage) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex legal and ethical concepts to attorneys and staff.
- Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $150,000 annually, contingent on location, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
