RIAs want to look like family offices — but can they deliver what ultra-wealthy need?
Day Pitney Private Client Partner Jordana Schreiber was featured in Crain Currency discussing the trend of single-family offices converting into RIAs or multifamily offices for sustainability and scale. She noted that while the shift can spread costs and support growth, it also raises regulatory demands and may dilute the personalized service families expect. Schreiber added that the true differentiator is how firms address noninvestment needs—such as planning, governance, philanthropy, and concierge support—while maintaining personalization and access.
As she emphasized, “The successful transitions I’ve seen are very intentional…The best of them continue to operate with a true family office ethos — just with a broader platform.”
