Florida's Cosmetic Surgery Scene is Booming and With it Doctors' Accountability

She discussed the uptick in cosmetic surgery centers popping up in South Florida. Rodriguez said that the Florida Legislature introduced House Bill 1561, which went into effect in May 2024, to reduce the mortality risks.

"Now, the new law passed in May states that surgeons performing these types of surgeries must have professional liability coverage up to a certain amount," Rodriguez said. "This creates more accountability, not only for the centers but also for the physicians themselves who are performing these surgeries."
