Day Pitney Patent Prosecution Chair on IP, Practice Group

Day Pitney Providence Partner George Chaclas was featured in a Law360 Pulse Q&A article discussing his new position as chair of the firm's Patent Prosecution and Counseling group.

When asked what he will focus on in his new role, Chaclas responded, "I'll really be focusing on building our team. We have several junior lawyers, and we're making strong connections together personally and professionally, so that as a group, when the good, hard work that we want to do comes in, we'll be able to tackle it. One of the things we do to that end is we have weekly patent prosecution and counseling roundtable meetings. Everybody in this department gets together – paralegals, assistants, attorneys – and it's just an open forum. Everybody can talk about any interesting work that's going on, and we stay in touch. And during these pandemic times, it's difficult to get that sense of community and team, and department cohesiveness because people don't have contact like they used to when everyone was in the office at the same time every day. And we found that these weekly meetings are very helpful to build that teamwork and community, and it fosters the sort of collegial environment where everyone is open and happy to work together, and that makes it a lot easier to put in the big effort that we deliver."
