Day Pitney Represents John Hancock in its $1.25 Billion Acquisition of Commercial Renewable Energy Portfolio from Duke Energy

On April 24, Duke Energy announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell a minority interest in a portion of its commercial renewable energy portfolio owned and operated by its affiliate, Duke Energy Renewables, to the John Hancock Infrastructure Fund (JHIF) and John Hancock Life Insurance Company (USA) (collectively, John Hancock), a division of Manulife Financial Corporation. Day Pitney LLP represented John Hancock in connection with this transaction, which has an approximate total enterprise value of $1.25 billion. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and expected to close in the second half of 2019.
