Day Pitney's Sandra Ferrera Elected as a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers

Day Pitney LLP is proud to announce that Miami Real Estate Partner Sandra M. Ferrera has been elected as a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL), one of the highest honors in the field of real estate law. She will be formally recognized at ACREL’s upcoming meeting in October 2026 in Cleveland, Ohio.

ACREL is a premier national association of leading real estate attorneys dedicated to promoting high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law. Fellows are selected through a rigorous, invitation-only process that evaluates candidates based on their legal excellence, substantial experience, and demonstrated contributions to the profession. In her practice, Ferrera represents real estate developers, lenders, borrowers, and financial institutions in all phases of complex commercial real estate transactions. Her work includes negotiating and closing acquisitions, sales, and development projects, as well as structuring and documenting both acquisition and construction financing. She also advises clients on lease negotiations, loan restructuring and enforcement matters, and has significant experience drafting condominium and homeowner association documents, preparing successor developer filings, and managing all aspects of real estate closings and related documentation. 

Ferrera has been widely recognized for her professional excellence and leadership. She was named to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite NOTABLE Women Leaders in Law list in 2025 (click here for Florida Trend’s methodology) and named a 2025 Bisnow South Florida Women Leading Real Estate honoree (click here for Bisnow’s methodology). She has also been chosen for inclusion in Best Lawyers® for Real Estate Law, 2023-2026 (click here for Best Lawyers methodology) and featured as a “Wonder Woman 2021” in the Boca Raton Observer. In addition, Ferrera teaches Mortgage Law as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, the University of Miami School of Law, and was inducted as a 2025 member of its Iron Arrow Honor Society.

Ferrera is an active member of the legal and business community, with a strong commitment to professional development, education, and civic engagement. She is involved in The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section, including its Condominium and Planned Development Committee. She is also a member of numerous professional and community organizations, including the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (Miami-Dade Chapter), the Dade County Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association in which she was selected to its Puente Leadership Institute, the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and CREW Miami. Ferrera is a Past President of the Cuban American Bar Association and currently serves as a Board Member of the Cuban American Bar Foundation. She is also a Board Member of the University of Miami School of Law Alumni Association and an active member of the University of Miami Citizens Board.

Ferrera earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and her B.A. from Florida International University. She is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida.
