Day Pitney Expands Intellectual Property and Technology Practice with Addition of Joseph Quinn
Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce that Joseph Quinn has joined the firm as Counsel in its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice. Based in Boston and Providence, Quinn brings nearly thirty years of experience counseling clients in intellectual property law, focusing on patent prosecution, portfolio development, and strategic IP guidance across a broad range of technologies. His addition strengthens the firm’s ability to deliver sophisticated patent counsel and innovative IP solutions to clients across a wide range of industries and marks the third senior attorney hire to its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice in just over a year, following the additions of Boston-based Counsel Eric Kaviar and New York-based Counsel Claire Gibson.
“As we continue to see strong demand for sophisticated patent counsel across innovation-driven industries, Joseph’s addition further enhances the depth of our IP Practice,” said Carrie Webb Olson, chair of Day Pitney's Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. “His strategic approach to protecting and managing intellectual property assets strengthens our ability to deliver forward-thinking, business-focused guidance to our clients and their evolving needs.”
In his new role, Quinn will focus his practice on advising and representing clients in the strategic management and enhancement of their patent portfolios in the United States and internationally. He has particularly extensive experience in the electrical and computer arts, where he successfully navigated “Alice” patentable subject matter rejections, which are common. Drawing on his background as a test technician and product design engineer, he advises companies across industries, including manufacturing, health care, medical devices, semiconductor design and fabrication, telecommunications, transportation and mobile technologies, defense technologies, software, and computer networks, helping them translate complex technologies into commercially aligned and well-protected intellectual property assets.
Quinn earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and his B.S. from Northeastern University. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts.
